Adrenal Fatigue – Could You Be Suffering?

Some people are blaming an array of symptoms appearing together for what is termed (although not a medical diagnosis) Adrenal Fatigue. The main symptom being, you guessed it, fatigue.

What is adrenal fatigue?

Adrenal Fatigue is the term given to an array of symptoms apparently caused by the draining of the Adrenal Glands due to mental, physical or emotional stress. The Adrenal Glands are small and are located on top of each kidney. The role of these glands is to release many different hormones that are critical for life including the sex hormones and cortisol.

There is no scientific evidence to support the Adrenal Fatigue theory, there is however an actual medical disease called Adrenal Insufficiency which has similar symptoms which can be diagnosed through a blood test.

Symptoms of adrenal fatigue:

  • Fatigue
  • Body aches
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Low blood pressure
  • Light-headedness
  • Loss of body hair
  • Skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation)

These symptoms can point to many different medical conditions so it is important that you see your Dr for a through check-up. Alternative causes could be depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep apnoea, anxiety, adrenal insufficiency and other medical issues.

Treatment?

If you have been to the Dr and there is no medical disease present they may term your condition Adrenal and they will advise you to get more sleep, exercise, eat healthier and possibly see a therapist for stress management. These treatment options should help your symptoms to disappear overtime and have you feeling back to your old happy, lively self in no time.

Remember:

  • Adrenal Fatigue is not a medical diagnosis
  • There is a medical condition known as Adrenal Insufficiency
  • Many lifestyle factors and medical issues can lead to these symptoms so your best bet is to see your Dr.

The Best Fat Burning Stack for Women

So, you’re ready to burn that fat, you’re starting a workout plan, and a diet. You’re ready and wondering how supplements can help? You walk into any supplement store and instantly feel overwhelmed by the array of products offering different ingredients that burn fat, but which ones should you use? Which ones work together and which ones are rubbish??? Here’s the low down on the best fat burning stack for women. You’ll never have to wonder again!

1.Thermogenic Fat Burners

The first and most obvious choice is a fat burner supplement but what ingredients are the most efficient?

One of the key ingredients is caffeine, on the ingredients list it will come under caffeine, caffeine anhydrous, green tea extract, trimethyl xanthine and caffeine citrate. Caffeine promotes lipolysis which is the breaking down of fat to be used as energy which in turn speeds up the body’s metabolism causing the body to burn more calories, caffeine also suppresses the appetite and acts as a stimulant so you will receive a nice energy boost while using theses supplements. so, it’s obvious why it’s the main ingredient in a thermogenic.

L-tyrosine or 4-hydroxyphenylalanine is another popular ingredient in thermogenic fat burners. This amino acid really promotes thermogenesis, the bodies way of generating heat, which helps to burn more calories.

Beta-alanine is another popular ingredient, this amino acid raises muscle carnosine levels which cause faster muscle contractions so you are able to work harder and longer, this in turn causes you to burn more calories.

There are also many herbal ingredients that all work in different ways to promote thermogenesis, appetite suppressors, and stimulants there are too many to list here and I will go through these in other articles.

Look for a combination of these ingredients in your thermogenic fat burner for best results.

2. L-Carnitine

This compound is a must have for your fat loss stack. L-carnitine’s job is to transfer long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria so they can be oxidised and burned as energy. This means your body will no longer be storing fat it will be continuously using it to fuel it activities. L-carnitine also acts as an appetite suppressant so you will no longer be over eating.

When you combine l-carnitine with a thermogenic you’re really getting the best of both worlds as your body is using fat stores for energy and is also no longer allowing you to store new fats!

3. Protein

Another very important component of your fat burning stack is protein!

You may be scared that protein is going to stack on the gains and really your trying to lose, not gain. Protein helps you to gain LEAN muscle which happens as you are burning fat. A good protein to go for is a WPI with little or no fats, carbs and sugars. This will keep your calorie intake down and allow your body to get the extra protein it needs while burning away the fat!

These are the Top Three products I recommended for a fat burning stack. Now that your armed with information head into the supplement store and get ready for the body you have been waiting for!
Go get it girl!

Creatine for Women – Should You Use It?

Creatine? Most of us have heard of it, some of us have tried it, but still the majority of women are missing out on the benefits of Creatine. We hear fit guys, and bodybuilders talking about loading creatine or the new creatine they are trying and just assume “oh that’s just for men” or maybe you think, “I can’t take that I don’t want to end up looking like a Arnold”… Sound familiar? I am here to give you ladies a little more insight on this awesome supplement and help you to decide for yourselves.

Firstly what is Creatine?

Creatine can be found in meat and fish, it is a non-essential amino acid meaning it can be created naturally in the body. Still the body simply cannot make enough creatine to achieve the optimal levels of enhancement that this wonder supp can gives us, supplementing with Creatine is the only way to recive its benefits and reap its rewards.

What does it do?

Creatine creates Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by adding a phosphate to the ADP molecule. ATP is the primary energy source for the muscle cells. So therefore when you are supplementing with Creatine you are effectively increasing your body’s stores, meaning more phosphocreatine is available to replenish ATP allowing the muscles work harder and longer which in return helps you to tone and shape those curves quicker.
Creatine boosts strength and power, gives you more endurance, helps build lean muscle, aids in faster recovery, reduces fatigue and hydrates the muscles.

Are there side effects?

Creatine is the most researched supplement out there and there is a lot of scientific evidence backing up its effectiveness. The main side effect that is causing women to stay clear is the fact that Creatine causes water retention and what female wants to be bloated? The good news is that this water retention is mostly in your muscles and is not like your monthly bloat at all. If anything, the “creatine bloat” actually gives you a more defined and toned look, so it’s actually quite the bonus.
You may have also heard that creatine harms kidneys and can give you muscle cramps but both these claims are far from the truth and have no supporting evidence. Creatine may even help to relive the muscle of cramping because it actually hydrates the muscles.

How is it taken?

Creatine works best when taken at a daily dose of 5mg. The old thought was to “load” with creatine at 20mg per day in separate doses to saturate the muscles in the first week, followed by the normal dose of 5mg daily, but studies have shown that your muscles will reach saturation with just 5mg daily in roughly the same amount of time as loading.
The other issue is at what time should creatine be taken? Basically as long as you are taking 5mg of creatine daily it doesn’t really make a difference as to what time you take it, it all comes down to personal preference. You could take it in the mornings, before a workout or even post workout, whatever works best for you!
The answer….
Most definitely! If you want a killer body with kicken’ curves, a bootylicious butt and overall toned look then creatine is the supp for you. Give it a go and see for yourself, the only thing you will regret is not starting it sooner!
